I've been playing guitar since age six. The Beatles had recently done the Ed Sullivan show. I asked my dad whether I could play the drums and he said no. My mom jumped in and it worked out that I could start taking guitar lessons. I've owned quite a few guitars and amps over the years. My parents bought me the first few then I started funding my own deals when I sold my bike to buy an Epiphone Casino. Given the price of guitars these days, if I had only kept them ... I've owned a Harmony, model unknown; a Gianinni small body steel string with Brazilian rosewood; the Epiphone Casino; two Les Pauls; a cherry sunburst 20th anniversary edition, circa 1976, a gold top standard a few years later, two ES-175s; one tobacco sunburst, one Charlie Christian, and an undocumented 1950s or 1960s Fender telecaster that I sold for $150 because the electronics we're working. I've also owned some great amplifiers including a Fender Vibro Champ a neighbor gave me in 1966 or so when he didn't want it anymore, an Ampeg SVT, a Music Man 1x12 combo, and a Seymour Duncan Convertible. I currently own a Schecter Stratocaster from the 70s; a Fender 1952 Telecaster Reissue to replace the Telecaster I sold in 1977 for $150; a cherry sunburst Ibanez Artist circa 1981; a Martin HD28 with herringbone inlay which a I bought a month after my daughter Ali was born; a Martin 0018-SH which is #168 of 250 of the Steve Howe guitars; a Danelectro 59-DC reissue like the one Jimmy Page played; a 1978 Takamine C-132s; and a Martin classical my dad built from a kit. I currently own three amps. A Marshall TSL-60 head driving a 4x12 angled cabinet loaded with four Celestion Greenbacks, a Mesa Boogie F-30 loaded with a Celestion Vintage 30 and a Bagend extension cabinet with another Celestion Vintage 30, and a Riveira Research combo loaded with an EVM-S. My neighbors love me! |
